Ancestors
Religion on Springhaven Isle revolves around 5 main ancestors. Worship of all 5 as a pantheon is the norm but most islanders have at least one whom they hold in slightly higher regard as their personal benefactor. For those who come from the island these will most likely be your ancestors, though how devoutly you worship them is up to you. Those not from the area will most likely never have heard of them before arriving here, but a short conversation with anyone over the age of 5 who was brought up on Springhaven Isle will glean you the basics and if you want to know more there are fairly devout followers of all 5 who will quite happily attempt to convert you. The basic gist of who they are (as is taught to children pretty much as rote) are as follows:
The people of the island lived originally on a large continent far away (no one remembers where this was or how long ago). They were enslaved there by a much larger band of people and forced to work for them. One day 5 leaders rose up and, working together, helped their people to throw off this oppression and escape from their masters. After several years of wandering (GMs note: anyone who fancies filling in these times with stories, be my guest as long as you keep the ancestors in character) they eventually arrived at the island and made it the new home for their people. The five were:
.
Sarajin the Warrior who fought off his enemies using strength and skill. His name is synonymous with martial feats.
.
Larani the Lawmaster who taught the people right and wrong and made sure they followed the good and propper path.
.
Peoni the Caring who protected the weak, cared for the needy and healed the wounded, no matter the cost to herself.
.
Naveh the Trickster. Master of disguise and trickery who would leave his enemies fighting shadows and illusions, when they knew he was there at all.
.
Savek-Nor the Scholar. A knowledgeable sage, he educated the people in the civilised arts. Foremost he is known for introducing them to Magery.
